About Proguard Automotive

Proguard is a third generation, family-owned business that has been in the automotive industry for over 70 years. Our customers benefit from that experience, which we’ve used to design quality products to protect them from unplanned repair costs. Our family legacy is at the core of our business, with the values we’ve been raised with evident in everything we do.

We are committed to providing the best claim service and customer experience out there, with excellent online ratings as evidence of this. Our contracts are transparent and fully insured, providing additional confidence that the plan you buy today will protect you for many years to come. We choose to sell exclusively through dealers, never direct, because we believe in the value and expertise they bring to their customers. When it comes down to it, we’re car people who appreciate the role vehicles play in our lives and do everything we can to keep our customers’ lives moving without complications.

You may be asking yourself why this matters?

Why should you care about the company behind your protection plan?

You are putting your trust in their hands to follow through on the promise they make in the contract. If they do not have integrity or a good reputation for paying claims, you’re putting yourself and your investment at risk. There are many providers out there so before you sign on the dotted line, do your homework to make sure the company you are trusting to protect your vehicle, family and livelihood is a good one. Here are some tips on how to do so:

  • Check their Google reviews – are they good?
  • Are they rated by the Better Business Bureau?
  • Do they sell through dealers or direct?
  • Is it easy to file a claim?
  • Do they have a good history of paying claims?
  • Do they let you choose the repair facility?
  • Do they pay claims directly or are you responsible for paying the repair facility?
  • Do they have real people answering the phone?
  • Are they English speaking or foreign?
  • Are the contracts insured?
  • Are they well-known locally? Active in the community?

Once you feel confident in the plan provider, the next step is to thoroughly understand the coverage options. If you’re like most people, you need some help understanding the contract.
